You are what you eat

Greetings!

dr heidi
As we celebrate National Nutrition Month, I'd like you to ponder the phrase, "You are what you eat."  We've all heard it before and thanks to scientific studies, we know today that there are proven connections between our diets and our physical, mental and emotional health.   It's common knowledge that the average American diet is high in sugar, calories, and fat.  Most of us eat way too many processed foods, white-flour based foods, salt, additives and preservatives.  Yet even armed with this knowledge, why do so many of us make poor choices when it comes to our nutrition? And why do we often fail to connect our body's ailments with a unhealthy diet?

There are arguments for convenience and cost, but in reality, when we get out of balance, it becomes hard to make the right choice.  So if your diet has made a wrong turn, I suggest that you start small.  Small, continual good choices will lead back to health and balance.  Once your new, healthier diet becomes routine, you'll find you don't want to pollute your system with unhealthy food and that it doesn't taste good anymore now that you have become accustomed to real nutrition.  You'll also experience the blessing of happier moods and a healthier body.

I encourage all of you to make some small changes to your diet this month.  Not only will you benefit, but you'll help to inspire those around you to adopt healthier choices in their own lives.

Until our next adjustment....

Yours in health,
Dr. Heidi & The InnerMovement Wellness Team
