Heart Health Month

This month we are creating awareness on the topic of Heart Health.  Heart disease remains the #1 cause of death of women in the United States.  That is scary and reason for alarm, but instead of fear, I would like to empower the women reading this with ways you can "take care" of your heart every day.

First, I'd like you to understand that the heart is a muscle.  When we think of the heart as a muscle, it is easier to relate to what we can do to keep our hearts healthy and beating strong.  Bring your attention to the muscles in your shoulders and neck.  Are they tight, tense and achy?  Do they get even more tense and painful after episodes of stress?  If yes, than it is likely that your heart "muscle" is tight, tense and achy and responding negatively to stress.  And a tight, tense and achy heart leads to high blood pressure, irregular pulse, abnormal heart beats and even worse, heart attack or stroke.  But the latter usually comes after we have had several "warning signs".  These warning signs can be chest tightness, a feeling of indigestion, squeezing or burning feeling in the left chest, center chest or left arm & shoulder.

If you ever feel any of this, get a preventative heart screen from your doctor right away. We've included some helpful questions below to ask.  Early detection can truly save your life, and prevention is key!  So we have dedicated this issue to bringing you the most recent research on cholesterol and heart health, as well as sharing with you proven supplement, lifestyle and diet strategies to keep your heart healthy and beating strong.   Until our next adjustment...

Yours in health,
