Say to yourself, "things are good".

Dr. Heidi
Over the last week, I've spent a lot of time pondering a thought I heard on my most recent weekend meditation retreat.  In responding to a student's complaints, the teacher said, "It takes a lot of courage to truly accept that things are good".  Of course this is not as easily applicable when major life challenges occur such as the loss of a loved one, major health issues, etc., but as I considered the concept, I was reminded of a quote by Marianne Williamson that states, "It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us."

Many times, I see patients that come to us with a chronic, often very painful condition.  We spend visit after visit, moving toward wellness as symptoms improve and ultimately go away.  Often times, patients seem unable to accept that they are well.  They insist on finding a new problem and seem disappointed when their spine has stabilized.  I think it is important for us to realize that even negative patterns can become a habit.  I believe that somehow as Marriane Williamson states we are more comfortable with distress and that it in fact DOES take courage to open our hearts, connect with others and rejoice in feeling good.

This Holiday Season, it might be a welcome change to fight our compulsion to stress and suffer, by simply saying to ourselves "things are good" thereby giving ourselves permission to ENJOY all of the goodness in our lives.

On behalf of the entire InnerMovement Wellness Team, we wish you and yours a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season!!!

Until our next adjustment....

Yours in health,
